Chadron Middle School Hosts Scholastic Day Competition

The 7th grade team poses for a picture after their 2nd place finish
On March 28th, Chadron Middle School hosted its first scholastic day competition in at least 20 years!  The idea to host a competition at CMS originated last year when several of the coaches mentioned how great it would be to host the event.  This year's competition coincided with a district-wide teacher in-service,  so regular classes were not interrupted and the middle school faculty, as well as faculty from other schools in the district, could help run the event.

In all, 9 teams from Chadron, Mitchell, Gering, Hay Springs, Hemingford, Banner County, Crawford, Gordon-Rushville, and Bridgeport entered the competition.

Gering and Hemingford's 8th grade teams made it to the championship game with Gering taking first place.  In the 7th grade division, our Chadron Cardinals made it to the championship game, but lost to a tough Mitchell team.

Thank you to the Chadron Middle School Scholastic Team coaches for organizing the day, to the parents that provided snacks in the hospitality room, to the awesome custodians at Chadron Middle School and Chadron High School, and to the Chadron High School administration for allowing the championship game to be held in their auditorium.

Overall, the event was a great experience and we hope that all of the students, coaches and spectators had fun and felt welcomed at our school.  We also hope that all of the schools that participated will join us again next year for what we hope will become an annual event.
