CMS Fall Assessments

Chadron Middle School's fall assessment schedule starts next Tuesday, August 30th, with the NSCAS (Nebraska Student-Centered Assessment System) test. This is the first year Chadron Middle School will fully participate in the new NSCAS growth model, which means 5th-8th grade students will take a benchmark assessment in math and English in the fall, progress monitoring assessments in the winter, and end with the regular summative assessments in math, English, and science in the spring. This is a new system, so we plan to continue using the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment in the fall and spring.

August 18th - First Day of School - Please Read

August 18th is the first day of school, and we can't wait to see our students! Classes begin at 8:00, and students will be let into the building at 7:45 to get their schedules and grab breakfast before heading to class. We will run a 1:30 dismissal schedule on Thursday and Friday this week.

When dropping off kids, please do not park in front of the school on 6th street. Instead, we ask that you drive through, drop off your child, and pull out, heading east towards Cedar Street. Drivers can also drop off on Ann Street. 5th and 6th graders will meet on the playground, which is located on the west side of the building. 7th graders will meet at the northwest entrance, and 8th graders will meet at the building's northeast entrance (main entrance). Drivers can pull up and park at the end of the day for student pick-up. 

Open House: CMS will host an open house on Thursday, August 18th, from 5:30-6:30. New student and 5th-grade parent meetings will be at 5:00 in the CMS Gym. Please call the Chadron Middle School office at 432-0708 if you have any questions!
