Parent Meeting and Open House Rescheduled

It is with regret that CMS must reschedule the Open House from August 9th to August 14th from 5:30-7:00.  There was a roof leak that flooded both bathrooms and two classrooms on the 3rd floor.  We are in the process of replacing carpets and repairing the bathrooms.  Students should bring all of their school supplies to the Open House on August 14th and they can put their supplies in their lockers at that time.  Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. Summers and Mr. Dressel will be available to help students remember/find combinations and locker numbers.

Both parent-student meetings are still scheduled for August 9th. The 5th grade meeting will be at 5 PM and 6th-8th grade meeting will be at 6.  Although the building will be closed, 5th graders will get their locks so they can practice.  For those who cannot attend, I've included several slides below that highlight the main points of the meeting.

CMS School Supply List

I've had some questions about the CMS school supply list. I recommend that you keep it pretty basic for the beginning of the school year and teachers will let you know specifics as we get into the groove of school. If you have any questions, please let me know.

All students need:
Kleenex
Pencils
Pens
Highlighters
Paper (loose leaf and notebook)
trapperkeeper
6th-8th grade PE - Black shorts and white/gray shirt/socks/Sneakers that tie/towel/deodorant
5th graders don't need PE clothes, but they do need sneakers that tie.
Students are welcomed to decorate/organize their lockers with a couple of limitations in mind: No Tape of any kind and no writing/drawing. The school will provide locks and those are the only locks allowed.

I'm looking forward to the coming school year and having all of our students back in the building.

Important Back-To-School Dates at CMS

August 9th

• 5 PM - 5th grade back-to-school meeting in the CMS gym and Open House 
• 6 PM - 6th-8th grade back-to-school meeting in the CMS gym and Open House
• PLEASE HAVE STUDENTS BRING SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO THE OPEN HOUSE.  THEY CAN PUT THEM AWAY IN THEIR LOCKER.  THIS WILL HELP REDUCE THE LOAD THAT THEY HAVE TO CARRY ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.

August 15th

• First day of school - 1:30 dismissal
• All students report to the playground on the west side of the building.  No students will be allowed in the building before 7:55 AM.  Students will report directly to the gym when they enter the building for an all-school assembly. 

August 16th

• 1:30 Dismissal

August 17th

• 1:30 Dismissal

August 20th-30th

• Regular, full-day schedule.  Classes begin at 8 AM and end at 3:25.  
• When dropping kids off in the morning, please use Ann Street or drive through, heading east, on the north side of the building.  For the safety of our students, please do not stop on the north side of 6th street.  
• When picking up kids after school, parents can use Ann Street or park in front of the school.  Again, for the safety of our students, please do not park on the north side of 6th street.
