2012 Chadron Middle School Veteran's Day Program

Students provide a brief history of the Army, Navy,
Marines, Cost Guard, and Air Force.
Chadron Middle School paid tribute to our Nation's veterans on November 9th, 2012 at the 4th annual CMS Veteran's Day Celebration.  Mrs. Kaus, and 25 of her 8th grade Social Studies students, organized the event, which was open to the public.

The celebration included patriotic music from the Chadron High School Band, the Chadron High School Choir and Chadron Middle School's own Walter Mays.  Students from Mrs. Kaus' class shared historical facts about each of the branches of the armed forces and took time to recognize those members of the audience who have served in the United States Military.

The Keynote speaker was Pat Marcek, who lost her son during the Iraq War.  Ms. Marcek is a member of the Nebraska Gold Star Mothers, an organization whose members are mothers who lost children in service of our Country.  Ms. Marcek talked to students about choosing their heros wisely and challenged the audience to remember our Nation's veterans 365 days a year.  Chadron Middle School thanks Ms. Marcek for presenting the keynote address and we also thank her for her son's service and ultimate sacrifice.

Thank you to all of the students that participated in the program, to the Chadron Middle School student body for their reverent and respectful behavior during the program, to all of the community members that joined us in the celebration, and especially to our Nation's veterans who honorably served and sacrificed to protect our freedom.
